Contract Stress Engineer – Portsmouth – Competitive Hourly Rate.
An industry leading engineering organisation is seeking the services of a Contract Stress Engineer to work in conjunction with their R&D function based in Portsmouth.
Working alongside Design Engineers, the successful Contract Stress Engineer will be responsible for identifying the most efficient concept designs, producing load analyses and stress calculations and contributing to the definition of qualification and development testing with specific focus on shake, rattle, and roll. Other responsibilities include the generation of engineering documentation including stress reports, presenting to various stakeholders i.e. customers, multi-discplined engineers, managers and functional specialists.
In order to be considered for this opportunity, candidates must have proven experience of stress analysis within a relevant engineering environment. Candidates must also have experience of classical hand calculations combined with PC based analysis and FEA tools inclusive of ANSYS. It would be advantageous to possess a broad knowledge and understanding of various stress related testing and analysis i.e. Non-Linear, Implicit Dynamic, Explicit, Structural, Vibration, Shock-Testing, Environmental etc., as it would be to have a knowledge of test specifications, Military Standards and Defence Specifications.
This opportunity is based in Portsmouth and is commutable from Waterlooville, Cosham, Havant, Fareham, Eastleigh, Southampton, Denmead, Farlington, Drayton, Bedhampton, Purbrook, Emsworth, Hayling Island, Chichester, and other locations in Hampshire.
