ELECTRO-OPTIC SYSTEMS GROUP LEADER – BRISTOL

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join newly created Electro-Optic Systems group, with a market-leading, multi-national defence company, based in either Bristol or Stevenage. In this role you will lead a multi-disciplinary team of Electro-Optic Systems Engineers, responsible for sustaining and developing the core Electro-Optic capabilities and skillsets that reside within the department, such as system design, modelling and assessment, laser expertise, and test & trials capability. You will support all of the programmes, over the entire product lifecycle, ensuring successful delivery of Electro-Optic work packages.
The typical responsibilities of this position include:
* Responsible for the coordination of the Electro-Optic Systems resourcing and programme delivery
* Working with a highly motivated group of Electro-Optic engineers that have a breadth of skills, and undertake a range of activities in supporting programme development
* Playing a key-role in ensuring Electro-Optic technology is delivered into main programmes, on schedule and in a cost effective manner
* Development of the Electro-Optic engineers within the Electro-Optic Systems group, facilitating training and career objectives
* Engagement across international sites, including Germany, France and Italy
What we are looking for:
* A broad understanding of Electro-Optics and ideally Electro-Optics imaging technology
* Experience of strong team leadership and practice of team management skills and tasks
* Experience of successfully working on small projects, ideally with academic and/or SME partners, where budget and time constraints were key drivers to the project
* Experience of using technical software packages such as Mathworks and National Instruments products
* A good understanding of system design across the full lifecycle from requirements elicitation and management through to verification and validation
* Awareness of work package management, including risk management, finance control, programme management and reporting
* Qualified to degree level or equivalent experience in Physics, Electronics, or maths related subjects
