Field Software Consultant (PhD Academic Level) – London / UK Wide – £40,000 – £80,000 + bonus + benefits – Permanent

Due to on-going company growth this highly successful Software Consultancy are now looking to recruit additional Field Consultants to both lead and assist the implementation of new and existing customer programmes. Their products are used as a core component in the enterprise data processing infrastructure by hugely successful global companies.

The work is varied and spans state of the art “proof of concept” projects, through knowledge transfer/mentoring, to supporting customer’s existing company applications. All consultants work directly with customers both onsite and offsite to ensure their success.

This person will typically be very experienced within the IT industry. Many existing consultants have had highly technical roles during their careers, but having reached senior management or project management roles, discovered that this was less rewarding than technical work.

This opportunity is often ideal for the gifted who may feel frustrated or side-lined in their current career paths.

The emphasis is on technical aptitude, self-motivation, inquisitiveness, and experience rather than detailed knowledge in a specific field. Any new hire will be trained in the company’s products and acquire skill through mentoring.

· Proficient in English.
· You will be a highly experienced, outgoing self-starter with a passion for solving problems. This role will involve a large amount of travel to support clients both on and offsite across the UK.
· Strong UNIX skills, including scripting
· Familiarity with a major database such as Oracle, DB2, Teradata, Sybase etc.
· Programming skills using procedural or OO languages
· Knowledge of software analysis and design methods
· Consultants should possess excellent interpersonal communication skills. For greatest financial reward Consultants would need to be able to participate in both Pre-Sales and Post-Sales activities. Such candidates would have some previous experience and competence in scoping, requirements capture, architecture, project management and presenting

· Foreign languages are an advantage. The following languages are of particular interest: Polish, French, Turkish, German, Spanish and Italian.
· Knowledge and experience of the following would be advantageous; metadata concepts, scheduling, data quality and/or data cleansing, real-time applications or web services, data warehousing, “big data” applications
