Job purpose
The position is within a diverse Manufacturing Engineering team, responsible for providing ‘hands on’ technical support to production lines in a fast paced environment. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for aspects of safety, quality, volume and cost. The responsibilities within the role are very diverse so the successful person must be adaptable, flexible and keen to learn new processes

Key responsibilities

* Lineside ‘hands on’ technical support to the working group, supporting the operator on the process to resolve problems
* Define, implement and improve production processes
* Lead root cause analysis and problem solving on manufacturing, assembly & test processes
* Ensure that the work environment meets the requirements for environmental, ergonomic and health & safety considerations
* Use departmental KPI’s to identify areas for improvement and implement robust solutions
* Work to resolve any process or product quality issues across site
* Ensure that all gauging equipment used in manufacturing or assembly processes is statistically capable, calibrated, functioning correctly and working within specification
* Maintain process to ensure adherence to accepted quality standards and to the sites quality system requirements
* To ensure control of product and process significant characteristics
* Demonstrate the use of a structured, data driven approach to problem solving
* Carry out FMEA / RFMEA process documentation and implement improvements
* To create operational standard work and line balance, understanding process constraints, and areas for improvement
* Deliver robust projects and process improvements from concept through to completion – to include mc operation, set up and validation
* Identify and deliver cost savings opportunities, whilst maintaining product quality and volume

What we’re looking for


* Hands on experience of CNC machining processes in a production environment – grinding, turning, milling etc.
* Demonstrate knowledge of manufacturing or Assembly systems and processes
* Understanding of EH&S requirements, and Risk assessment
* Analytical and data literate, demonstrate the use of data to solve problems
* Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
* Understanding of Engineering drawings and Geometric tolerancing
* Design capability using CAD / SolidWorks,
* Understanding of process and gauge capability, and required controls
* Ability to develop and present technical presentations to management and others
* Proficient in the use of MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, project etc.


* Ideally (Mechanical) Engineering Degree or ‘time served’ or relevant industry experience in a broad spectrum of activities.
