Mechanical Architect

Do you want to work with a global leader in high performance marine electronics? Insignis Talent are currently seeking a Mechanical Architect to join a world renown, innovative company, based in Hampshire.

In this role you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing architectural direction in all development activities. This will include:

* Provide expertise to mechanical aspects of all development projects
* Ensure selection of appropriate methods and technologies for product design
* Identify risks and define mitigation plans
* Ensure the mechanical designs will deliver the correct level of functionality and performance in a cost-effective way
* Ensure product quality by:

* Championing “best practice” design principles & techniques
* Conduct DFMEAs
* Run thermal and FE analysis
* Review designs, components and material selections

* Support the development as necessary
* Provide timely responses to questions and issues raised
* Resolve technical issues using the appropriate resource and expertise available within the team.
* Encourage cross-functional work and provide adequate support to multi-disciplinary teams.
* Maintain strong departmental and inter-departmental communications and ensure that all concerned are aware of the impact of mechanical design decisions
* Keep abreast of emerging technologies, materials, technical obsolescence, changes in design practices and tools

To be successful in this role, you will:

* Possess a BSc or above in mechanical engineering, or equivalent industry experience
* Have a strong knowledge of Material properties
* Be knowledgeable in the following manufacturing methods:

* Injection Moulding
* Sand / Die Casting
* Compression moulding
* Enclosure Design

* Hold experience of 3D CAD tools

* SolidWorks
* Thermal / FE Analysis

* Knowledge of Prototype Modelling Techniques
* Knowledge of DFMEA / DFM & Lean Manufacturing Techniques
* 6 Sigma Appreciation
* Project Management Appreciation
* Excellent communication and listening skills, team player
* Experience of Team Leadership within a design environment
* Strong drive to close issues, obtain the best combined solution
