Program Buyer – Solihull – Competitive Salary
A leading, global automotive engineering supplier is looking to recruit a Program Buyer to join their high performance team, based within their European Technical Centre in Solihull.
The successful Program Buyer will be responsible for fulfilling purchasing objectives within the Programme Team, co-ordinating and procuring direct material and related tooling and equipment for specific programmes in accordance with organisational objectives. Other responsibilities include: ensuring on-time sourcing for programs and delivery at or below target piece/tooling price cost; developing and implementing program sourcing strategies and driving the sourcing of new components in line with the commodity strategy for the allocated programme, as well as driving cost reductions for Gap closure, supplier management in terms of timing and delivery, and enhancing quality performance and support programs until job1+90.
In order to be considered for this opportunity, candidates must have proven experience of purchasing, and operational and strategic involvement within an automotive engineering environment. Candidates must also possess an understanding of purchasing tools and practices and have an ability to analyse cost structures and drivers relating to supplier price submissions and be able to negotiate prices, timings and terms. It would be advantageous to hold a formal qualification i.e. HNC/HND/Degree in a Commercial or technical discipline, as it would be to have strong MS Office capabilities. European language skills would also be advantageous.
