Satellite Capacity Planning Engineer – Surrey – Competitive Salary + Car Allowance + Benefits

We are looking for a Satellite Capacity Planning Engineer to join the Systems Engineering Department of a world leader in the provision of Satellite Communications and IT Support.

This person will be the Technical Design Authority for the Global dvb-s2/rcs-s2 Hubs. They will negotiate with Satellite providers, ensuring delivery of efficiencies and cost savings as well as conducting capacity planning, global capacity reviews, driving spectrum efficiencies across the Global infrastructure

They will ensure the organisation gets the best return on their satellite capacity investments and will support System Design and Sales in finding new Satellite operations and developing link budgets for a variety of customer needs.

They will also develop, and project manage support to meet business strategy – the main enterprise sectors being Oil & Gas, Commercial Shipping, Leisure, Media, Security, Construction and IT.

Essential Background/Skills:
· Telecommunications background with deep knowledge of Satcom and/or Maritime communications background
· Experience in multi-network exposure, including firewalls, traffic shaping, PEP acceleration
· Good experience in generating/calculating link budgets on a variety of platforms
· Experience in reviewing link budgets/transmission plans for efficiencies to be gained
· Degree in IT or relevant subject/HNC/HND/NVQ level education in IT or Electronic/Electrical Engineering

· Knowledge of DVB standard for IP transmission, including S2, RCS-S2 and related modcods
· Understanding of TCP/IP networking principals
