Purpose of the role:
This role encompasses the installation, commission, test and subsequently maintenance of equipment on-site when required. Ensuring that all works are carried out to the highest of quality and in accordance with the company procedures, customer standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities and tasks

* Set-up, configure and test existing equipment that entails electrical/electronic and mechanical knowledge, ensuring that equipment works to its specification.
* Running process plants, hydraulic pressure testing, pneumatic pressure testing,
* Able to use basic test equipment such as, Multimeter, datron , oscilloscope.
* Carry out, flash testing, IR testing, earth bonding, point to point checks
* Carrying out activities in line with the company’s test procedures.
* Investigating mechanical and electronic problems, diagnosing/repairing faults.
* Install, commission, test and subsequently maintain equipment on site when required.
* Work with engineering and technical staff to develop new and existing equipment.
* Ensure documentation and test results are recorded as required.
* Feedback design and maintenance issues to appropriate personnel.
* Run system demonstrations.
* To control and maintain professional standards within the test areas.

Experience and Skills:


* HNC/HND in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or time served apprenticeship
* Ability to read and understand drawings
* Decision-making / problem solving skills
* Strong self-management and organisation skills, and attention to detail
* Strong presentation skills, confident speaker and professionally presented.
* Flexible, enthusiastic individual who is self-motivated, able to work well under own initiative
* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
* Must be a team player


* Experience of working within a Defence environment
* Knowledge of Naval standards
* Ability to use Microsoft suite, and analyse data within Excel

Other requirements

* Some travel to dockyards in the UK & overseas may occasionally be required.

* Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK
* Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain this level. To gain SC clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
