Role: Value Stream Leader
Location: Near Letchworth Garden City
Salary c£65,000 – £75,000

Position Summary:
The Value Stream Leader is responsible for the efficient and profitable operations of the Value Stream for the full life cycle from materials to product to manufacture through to delivery to our customers you will have direct contact with all aspects of the business from Customer Order through to Final Dispatch. Responsible for ensuring that daily, weekly, and monthly production KPIs are met for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Growth. The key challenge of this role is the creation of a World Class manufacturing plant as an integral part of a multi-functional business.

Key responsibilities:
Create a vision & plan to transform the value stream to drive improved safety, quality, delivery and productivity
Working closely with the Head of Operations to ensure that key performance indicators are achieved in particular relating to safety, quality, delivery, cost and growth
Maintain high standards of cooperation between each business function
Develop and implement a technology roadmap to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce employee burden, working towards greater automation.
Overall responsibility for a team of some 80 operations personnel including supervisors, team leaders, process engineering, production planning and universal operators
Work closely with managers from other functions who report to the corporate function leaders to ensure a whole team approach is taken to achieving daily, weekly and monthly sales targets. These include product engineering, inside sales, supply chain, finance and HR/administration
Coordination of forecasting processes and planning resources appropriate to the expected workload, balancing capacity with demand to ensure the most efficient use of the Value Stream resource commensurate with maintaining customer satisfaction
Drive high levels of employee engagement and involvement across the Value Stream through the utilization of effective channels of communications, management and leadership and promoting an inclusive and respectful company culture.

We are looking for someone who has the following:
A relevant Degree qualification is a requirement.
The successful applicant will have previously held a similar position, ideally in either an engineering or manufacturing company
Experience of operating at a senior level within a structured organization
Formal Lean training as well as demonstrated capability in the implementation of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools and techniques.
At least 5 years’ experience of working in a manufacturing environment with a successful track record in delivering profitable growth.
A proven leader of people with prior experiencing of managing a team and preferably formal leadership and managerial training.
Experience of world class manufacturing techniques
Experience of managing health & safety (formal training would be advantageous)
Must have experience of working in a unionised environment
Must be computer literate (MS Office, MRP / ERP).
Formal training and experience in mechanical and/or production engineering.
